AFROCITY promotes ecological reclamation and land agency using advocacy, research and technology (ART) within Richmond Virginia’s downtown acres; comprised the historic Navy Hill and Shockoe Bottom areas. The area is described as a cornerstone of African American legacy in the United States; it was the second largest operation of trading the enslaved in the US; and includes one of the oldest municipal cemeteries where famous liberators were martyred. From Maafa, antebellum and indigenous narratives, AfroCity was born to not only educate, but empower next generations. Rooted in heritage and imaginative vision; AfroCity provides insights to the global experiences and fruitful liberation ideals of ancestors in the Americas.
